Hello all, what do solo practitioners do for difficult cases, or cases they have questions on? Is there some sort of online forum/community where we can share cases? or some sort of way other than sending for an official consult?

I send out to a reputable academic institution with subspecialists for whatever I'm getting a consult on. Which for me accounts for < 2-3% of total cases. Some employed types or gun-shy send out 5% or more. Depending on what you mean by "online sharing" it is likely unpractical. Although, I've heard of some DP's doing telepath consults and signing out cases. Otherwise, if it's a curbside consult, nobody would regularly do it because billing would be a pain, plus without generating an official report, there would be all kinds of legal pitfalls.

I'm the only dermpath in my group, and when in doubt I send out. My group doesn't get charged for any consults, the patients are always billed directly, so if that isn't the case for you I suppose that may affect things.
