I dont understand why this statement is true:

the covalent bond character between silver and the halides increases as the size of the halide increase? I thought the bonding between AgI is ionic bond....

Ionic bonds occur between atoms where electronegativity differences exceed 2 on the pauling scale. Electronegativity for halides decrease down a column, so covalent character increases as opposed to AgCl, AgBr etc. I looked up the electronegativity differences for Ag and I and it was .73<<2
