If S1 indicates closure of the mitral valves, why does the apical impulse rise? Doesn't the heart start contracting (and get smaller in volume)?

However, I get why peripheral arteries rise with S1: because they receive blood during ejection (S1 starts ejection). But I don't know why the apical impulse rises.

because you begin systole and Push all that blood from left ventricle to the aorta, Increased pressure in left ventricle i suppose.
