Hey! Like everyone else, I am kind of freaking out at this point. Does anyone have any insight into the following programs:

Hopkins
Emory
UVA

I know that they are all very good and have a good reputation (I am interested in academics). I guess what I am concerned about is location, malignancy, and whether or not I am going to have to have a second apartment at the hospital (well, in one program in particular) !

Thanks so much, and I appreciate your help! 👍

Hi! I really liked UVA (ranked them #1). I didn't apply to either Hopkins or Emory so can't help you with that. But I had a very good feeling about UVA.

I can speak for Emory. Atlanta is a great city to live in. Many of the residents live within 20 minutes of the hospital. Some of the residents with families live a further out from the city, where the housing is considerably cheaper. The attendings at Emory are approachable and very interested in teaching, particularly the program directors. As for work hours, you definitely won't need a second apartment at the hospital. Surg path can be busy but the service is not going to monopolize your time. Most people leave between 6 and 7 pm. So far, I've been very happy with the program.

Thanks for your help! That is definitely the feel that I got from Emory on interview day. 🙂
