Hey Everyone,
just had a couple of questions to ask. It's closing in on that time to apply to dental schools. Are there any good schools you would suggest looking into? I did set up my DAT appointment and I only chose 5 schools to send my scores out to at the time, because I was all about just signing up and getting the date I wanted. Also is there a good recommended amount of dental schools to apply to and feel confident about getting in somewhere? And just one more question, how did anyone go about applying to dental school with AADSAS application and then the school application, just seems confusing. Sorry about all the questions, I'm just frazzled right now with time slipping by. Any help would be appreciated 🙂 thanks 🙂

It's really hard to give you an answer without providing stats and schools you've applied too.

I am sure if you did a search you would find a thread on how many schools to apply to and which ones depending on your stats.

This process is stressful to say the least, but don't let it get you frazzled..

i will attempt to answer a couple of your questions,

"Are there any good schools you would suggest looking into?"

this is the U.S so if a d-school is not good (whatever not good means) it will be either discredited by an accredition body or it would just close down. therefore, you'll get a decent dental education wherever you go, with minor differences--many of which are non-dental-education-related. so which schools to apply to? well, apply where you have a chance getting in (consult predents.com on stats and profiles). if you realize that you'd be a shoe in at many schools, then you can select the more affordable/the more convenient location/the smaller class/the larger class....whatever your preferences are.

"Also is there a good recommended amount of dental schools to apply to and feel confident about getting in somewhere?"

this is a purely statistical question....
the higher your stats, the higher the probability of getting into a dental school, the higher that probability is, the less number of schools you'd have to apply to.

one advice though: do not fall into the whole SDN-predent specialty-school humbug. there is no such thing as a "specialty school"....schools that turn out a relatively large number of specialists are simply those in which the student body is specialty-driven from the get go.

good luck
