Hey,

Can someone please clarify the following:

In regards to the Pterygoid Plexus of veins:

(1) Is the Deep Facial vein a possible means of communication from the Facial Vein to the Pterygoid Plexus of Veins? i.e. Can an infection in the face reach the Pterygoid plexus of Veins via the Deep Facial Vein?
(2) Does the Pterygoid Plexus of Veins communicate with the Cavernous sinus via some veins which go through the Foramen ovale?

(3) In regards to lymphatic drainage of teeth, is this correct?

Submental Lymph Nodes: drain only mandibular incisors
Submandibular Lymph Nodes: drain ALL other teeth?

Thanks a lot

yes all the teeth except the mand incisors are drained by the submandibular lymph nodes. Mand incisors along with the tip of the tongue, the floor of the mouth below the tip of the tongue n central part of the lower lip are drained by the submental nodes. Evrything, finally drains into the deep cervical lymph nodes. Correct me if its wrong

1. The answer is yes.Facial vein communicates with the pterygoid plexus via deep facial vein. The facial vein also communicate with the cavernous sinus via superior ophtalmic vein.
2.Yes.Pterygoid plexus communicate with the cavernous sinus through an emissary vein through foramen ovale.
since the veins of face don't have valves...infection can spread from/to any of these regions.
3.yes

thank you smyle! that was a good explanation for the facial vein.

missing one little detail.

your right about the lymphatics except that both sets of 3rds go directly to deep cervical nodes
