Hello there!

I'm a IMG. About 5 months ago, when I was in canada for Clerkship at U of T,
one attending said to me that tons of chances would be open even for IMGs. He also knew most of IMG had a hard time finding a residency in Canada.

However, he said, if I search the residencies in any provinces, I can find it.

I know a thread posting a residency in canada is very tough for IMGs.

Do you think the residency in canada(not just ON, canada-any places) is tough?

I don't think so.

If I got a residency in a rural area, I can get back and find a job in ON after the residency.

In that point, I think it is not impossible to get a residency in Canada.

what do you think?

also remember that in the second itiration there are Canadian grads participating who did not get a spot in the first itiration and I heard that Ontario guarantees Ontario med grads spots in Ontario (even if its FM in Thunder Bay)... anyhow, there are a set number of spots for IMG's (check out the CaRMS website) I believe for U of T this year its 6 or 7 spots for IM alot more for FM.... but check the sites for the quotas.... so its possible but tough.

Good Luck,

I met a few IMG's on my interview trail this year.... so it is definetly possible!

Thank you for your comments. I also wish you have good luck.

Can I ask you a question?

What factors do you think are important for being accepting in Canada?

1.Exam score
2.English-toefl score
3.citizenship or permanent resident

4 or something ( I don't have in mind)

My wife is a canadian, so I think I can get a permanent residentship relatively easily.

In terms of Exam, toefl, I'll try to get good score...

Someone said to me' why not trying to do in US first, and get back to canada'

But, if it's possible, I wanna be in canada.

So, can you tell me the question above?

Thank you
