Hey, I was just wondering if you guys could help me out...

Since I started school this fall, I am really feeling lazy, slow, and bored. I like learning and school, but I just hate the way it is setup. I don't know, my chem class is a beotch and its just so lame. I really don't feel like I could do this for the next 4 years as well as med school. Right now, med school really doesn't sound anywhere near as awesome as it did a couple of weeks ago. I am not really sure what I want to do now. I'm researching other careers and chiropractics seems interesting. I guess looking at the life of a MD/DO seems really bland. Chiropractics seems more hands-on and more patient care but I don't really know.

Now for all you who will tell me to give up now and blah blah blah. I want to finish my degree, I will do that no matter what. I just have no real motivation for a career right now. I don't know what to do after is the problem. It's obviously not a big deal, seeing how this is my second semester, and I have 4 years to think about this. I plan to talk with my adviser too.

Anyway, all help is appreciated. 🙂

As someone who didn't realize that they wanted to go to med school until after they graduated college...you have sometime to think about things. I wouldn't get too worked up about what is going to happen after you graduate, and just focus on doing a great job on what is currently in front of you. Just make sure to take time for yourself, and enjoy being an undergrad. Plus, you can always take sometime off between med school and your undergrad to get some more perspective about what you really want to do with your life. Many people change their minds (and their majors) over the course of college, so it's only natural. Just don't let it get to you, and try to see it as a positive thing. You might end up even more determined to go to med school in the end after some more self discovery.

You know what? I had this exact feeling too when I was pre-pharm and guess what? I realized I couldn't see myself being a pharmacist for the rest of my life and realized I wanted to go to med school get a MD and become a physician.

Maybe that's the same with you.

Coolio.

Thanks for the advice btw. 🙂

I've been feeling better about it through the day and I know I can take my time and make the right decision.
