Some free notes for my beloved SDN Community.

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Heres some chem.

On behalf of everyone at SDN, thank you very much for these notes!

I will be posting some physiology notes for you guys shortly that I made using The Princeton Review and The Berkeley Review books.

Thanks Deeder, that'd be excellent of you.

I'm hoping this thread turns into a hub for notes, pdfs, flash cards, whatever. It'd be great to have the notes everyone contributes centralized in this thread so others don't have to go searching around.

Wow! Your notes are so clear-cut! I'm trying to figure out how to type mine up effectively (I can never get them to follow a cohesive pattern!), so this is kind of an awesome example.

And I think I'll definitely have to have a look at these once I start studying for the MCAT. 😍

Thank you!

Thanks guys, keep em coming.

And Don, good thing you brought that site up, I almost forgot about it, its got some really great notes (and figures to go along with them).

this is my summary of all the high yield they specified in ek 1001 bio 🙂

thanks for your notes!
& hope this helps

Good stuff guys thanks

Parthenon, the verbal reasoning strategy is it your own or one of the prep companies?

Blitz-
Its fundamentally based on the Exam Krackers Strategy, However, I've added in some of my own tricks that I've learned along with many things I got from SDN, particularly from Vihsadas's Verbal Strategy.

I was PMed about what I got on the MCAT by using these notes.

I'm taking the beast on August 20th, BUT...The information in the notes I've posted (and the notes that you all have so far posted) includes essentially all the material you need (respective towards each topic).

For example, the equilibrium notes contain all you would need to know for that topic. Its just a matter of committing the information to memory. I'm at my last month of prep in which time I'm taking only practice tests every other day. The "in between days" I review my exam and review all the information over again in bio, chem, physics, whatever, and re-write the things I can't think of off the top of my head. The idea is that each time I do this -- I'll be rewriting less and less because it will all be second nature to me. Its just a matter of beating yourself in the face with the information until it becomes permanently lodged into your cerebrum.

I realize I haven't posted my physics notes, but thats just because I didn't type them up. I do however have a pdf of a decent physics overview I downloaded off of SDN a while back. But unfortunately, it seems I've exceeded SDN's upload limit for now, I'll wait a few hours (maybe a day) and post those up as well when I can.

http://www.prep101.com/mcat/study_aids.html is a fantastic resource. They've got a ridiculous amount of free information, questions and passages. I highly recommend it.

One warning about this website, however.

From what I've read on here, Prep101 steals its practice problems for other companies. Beyond this and their formula sheets being nice, I don't know much else.

Hmm, the chemistry and physics and organic formula sheets are impressive, I would suggest them. The Biology one -- ::borat accent:: NOT SO MAAACH! Its all about diseases.

Seems like we have ourselves another Kenneth Chou...

Pointing out an advice from SN2 moderator isn't same as selling fraudulent materials to pay for medical school. I suggest you to actually read the article to understand what it said.

Quick question....How does one read a verbal passage like a douchebag? I was under the impression that we were not allowed to bring in heinekens, jack johnson CDs, gamecube, and all the seasons of family guy to the testing center.

just wanna point out, there are some typos/wrong info in endocrinology and immuno. like calcitonin not calitonin and it increases osteoblast activity, not osteoclast.
T-cells are produced in bone marrow and mature in the thymus

parthenon, did you use EK to study and write your review sheets? seems like its very EK based. but i wudn't have much idea cos EK is the only book im using

I apologize for the typos and errors, and you are correct sir, I did use EK for the review (mostly at least) -- theres a bit of information from TBR Biology in there. Also, calcitonin does increase osteoblast activity, so to people who download that file, please make sure you fix that. Also you're right, T cells are MADE in the bone marrow, however they MATURE in the thymus. (good catch - see this is another benefit of this thread, we can all keep each other's information in check and make sure its perfectly accurate - collectively as a group theres a lot we can do)

As far as "reading like a douchebag" goes -- What I mean is do everything in your power to be critical of the author's writing. Do not take everything as it is, but rather, be at objection to his argument. This type of mentality really helps when you come across questions such as "which of the following would most strongly weaken the author's assertions?", since you have been 'arguing" with the author the whole time, the correct answer choice would be the one that most agrees with YOUR ideas. For questions that ask "which of the following would most likely strengthen the author's arguement?" The correct answer choice is the one that slaps YOU in the face and says that YOU are wrong.

I've been using that for EK 101 (scoring 10s mostly, with one 11) However I seem to have platued at that point. To anyone who is scoring better -- please feel free to extend your verbal skills/knowledge at us.

But great job guys, lets make this thread a mecca for content information. 👍

I've only watched a couple episodes of Family Guy, but that show seems to be as undouchebaggy as it comes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4VWQupgmlg

Maybe one of Tyler Perry's shows?

ajhalls3 PMed me about a website he's creating http://www.mcatprepnow.com/ the material I've posted here will be going on that website as well as everything and anything that you all post. So I encourage you all to post whatever notes/material you guys have (even if you think its "not clear/messy") it'll be a great source FOR SDNers BY SDNers.

Cheers
