Some Keyhole Questions

Hey guys, I'm having some trouble figuring out a few of these keyhole questions and need some help.

Answer is D; I put A and can't figure out why they both aren't right.

Hmm I would say A For the first one too
why is it D?

Third One: E

I think because the line that is coming out of A is too skinny for the object to go through. D for the other hand fits the top/bottom criteria. I thought it was A as well in the first glance.

Well first one is not A because if you look at the ledge that is coming off, that is too short on the keyhole compared to the real one.

I say second one is A/C because nothing else works. (horribly drawn, btw)

Third one is E for sure, because nothing else but E works, and if you visualize the figure from the side, it will look like E.

The answer for number two is indeed A as sfoksn put it. Do you mind explaining it a little more - why is it not C and how can you fit that thang into a T?

And for the third one, I put C because it looks like the thing in the middle isn't flushed with both sides of the rectangular prism, as indicated by E. E is the right answer tho.

Two cant be C, because the bottom legs are much smaller than top legs, but in the c,the lenght of thoes two bottom legs are equal to the top ones.

for the second one, think of it going through from the left or the right side. (or you viewing it from the left or the right of the object). you'll see that A works and it can go through a T shaped keyhole. C doesn't work b/c the rectangle coming off on the bottom right is too long compared to the figure.

For the third one, E is right if you also look from the left or the right of the object.

The rectangle is within the boundaries of the prism shaped thing. So it won't show up in the keyhole 🙂

The Tbar part still sticks out, how can it fit into a T?

btw, how can you attach pictures easily? attaching here is so hard. i had to cut my diagram a couple of times -_-;;; (and left out the answer choice E coz it wasn't the answer anyways..) 400x400 seems too small 🙁

anyways, what do you think the answer is to this one?!

Thanks a lot - I was just being a fool on number 3. The sides clearly stick out but they are in line with the central thing so it looks like one figure from either the left or right. RING12 - nice explanation for number 2.

For the one Ibracadabra just posted, I'd guess B but I'm not sure. If that's right I'll explain my reasoning later on.

To get the pictures in line with your text:
1. save the image to your desktop.
2. go to photobucket.com, make an account (they won't spam you, don't worry) and post the image onto the site.
3. Once you've posted the image online, you can right click it in the site and then hit "open image in a new tab" if you're using google chrome. I'm sure you can get to just the page with the http://www.photobucket...... with only your picture on the site in other ways too.
4. Copy that link.
5. In your thread message click on the little mountains with the yellow background (insert image) and then paste the link to the site that has only the image you want to post.

for second one u need to hold the image up with the side longer on the top and look at as a top view, if you look at from top you wont see the middle part to stick out any more.

The answer is actually A. I thought that the shapes have to be exact with the keyhole... but this one just isn't 🙁 it ignores a small fraction of the object's silhouette.

I get that you can put it through A, but I'm just wondering if questions like this actually appear on the DAT;;; it got me confused a lot.

Yes, it is A. I thought the lines have to match exactly... but it seems like for this one they don't do that. It's weird coz sometimes they emphasize the precise length of an object, and sometimes they are okay with answers like this, which don't accurately represent the figure...

I feel your pain. I tend to go more with elimination. Best fit answer is right answer. Wrong choices will have very specific flaws in it. If you can eliminate wrong choices you will left with your answer even though it's not so precise.

For your given example, A is not the perfect match and it's certainly not precisely drawn as you said but it is the BEST fit here. Everything else has more flaws then even A. If I had given any better choice then A I would have picked that.

That's all I have to say. Hope my opinion make sense to you and more then that hope it helps you.

Yeah.. it does make sense. Ughh.
CDP guys tend to make keyholes quite precisely. I didn't have any problem with CDP keyhole. When i jumped to kaplan final and Topscore 1, i felt that the diagrams were a little more vague and looking at weird'er' angles. arghh whatever. guess i'll have to live with that 😛 yeah and i'm on the same feeling that elimination is the best process for keyholes. 🙂

First is D if your looking at it top view

Second is A if your looking at it either left/right side view

third is E if your looking at either left/right side view.

The right leg on C looks much longer than the reference shape. If you use the perspective on the reference shape, the right leg should be shorter than the width of the top cross bar.

It's D for first one, Top view, A is incorrect because the bottom piece is too fat to fit in that skinny hole.

You can rule out the other ones because those last 2 aren't even close. B is close, but has an angled edge, not a box shape on it's back. Leaves A, which is a side view of the object. Forget the pointing end in the front, you'll have to extrapalate the cylinder sticking out which makes a flat surface if you view it on it's side view.
