Somebody applied to 100+ schools..

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yeah, but did you see the GPA- I would do the same if I had the money and didn't care where I ended up as long as I got in somewhere

Haha I think someone posts about this profile at least once a week. For the last time: It's not real!

Man, that would cost more than 100 bucks. Money don't grow on trees.

Don't you get a volume discount through AMCAS? 🙄😀

I'll make this interesting... If AMCAS told you that you could apply to 100 schools for $100 total (including secondaries) but you had to fill out every secondary completely, would you?

definitely...it could be pretty fun to make up some BS essays for the 80+ schools i wouldn't have applied to anyway.

And this is why MDApplicants cannot be considered trustworthy overall.

well, he needs to get some interview invites first, which I find a little out of the reach for MD schools.

well we are still deep in the hypothetical, afterall... and applicants usually forget how expensive the interviews are... the VAST MAJORITY of the money you spend on this process will probably come from interviews if you're a competitive applicant.

Well that's not true...most of my interviews were actually nearby, because a large chunk of the schools I applied to were in NYC or within driving distance (same day's driving distance I mean).

So if you are in a major city and you mostly applied to schools there the interview costs wouldn't be that bad. But yes, flying out for interviews is the REALLY expensive part.

Thankfully I only had to fly out for one, but it was worth it (since that's where I'm going).

Heh.

BTW I'm not saying I was a particularly competitive applicant though, or I probably would have spent more money lol. But what I mean is that a competitive applicant who applies largely to nearby schools can actually interview pretty cheaply. Although I think this mostly just applies to NYC since it's like the only city with THAT many med schools in subway and driving/LIRR/Metro North range.

And that person was the richest in the world. lol

sadly the midwest is a bit more spread out. The Gas for a trip from Michigan to Wisconsin was around 170 bucks round trip.

Making the huge assumption that this profile is real, did you notice that all of those schools were "rejected pre-secondary"? Clearly he just filled out a ton of AMCAS schools and never did secondaries after getting some early interviews and an acceptance. A lot of those schools don't screen pre-secondary, so the only way he could be "rejected pre-secondary" is if he never filled one out.
