I just plopped 70 bones down for a sonicare. I don't want to lose my teeth when im 40 so I figured buying this thing and swishen listerine around would be the best option for me. Flossing? Ohhhhnooooo, I can't get with the program.

I just wish the thing played mp3's while I brushed with it. Lady in a red corvette.....yeah.

I don't know about free, but at Yankee Dental Conference we get them discounted. I have yet to buy one.

In fact, if you go to their website (I can't remember what it is), you can buy one for $35.

I got the Oral-B Excel 3d. It's worthless... well not quite, but it's not *that* good. The sonicare is supposed to be the top of the line 'lazy-man's toothbrush'.

🙂

Nice icon ventdependent, I put some floss by my computer and just floss a few teeth now and then whenever i'm reading this goofy stuff. Works for me.

I've used sonic care since they came out....man what a great brush!!!

It will take you guys a little to get acustomed to, but I feel like I left the dentist office after I use it.

Best thing about it, when I floss now plaque is non-existant... almost feel like I could stop flossing.

Only crappy part is the heads are like $14 a piece and you have to change them every 4-6 months

Crest SpinBrush does just as good a job as does the Sonicare.

And, the Crest reps are more than happy to toss a dozen SpinBrushes your way if you are a student.

I have so many that I'm changing them out every other week, which is fabulous.

Am I the only one on the planet who still uses a traditional toothbrush and floss??

I have used a few different electric toothbrushes and definately didnt like the Spinbrush. The bristles are too rough and overall, I felt its was too violent.

Naw, I give all the manual toothbrushes (and all the toothpaste I don't use) to my and Rachel's families. So they're with you at least 😀

Yeah, I'm using a freebie SpinBrush right now and I'm pretty satisfied with the job it's doing. I didn't think to grab extras, though...d'oh!

For those of you who have tried both... is the Sonicare any better than any of the Oral-B Braun 3-d models. I used to have an Oral-B, and thought it was the ****. I'm looking at new ones now (Oral-B has like 4 different models now) though and some input would be appreciated.

So did the sonicare reps convince you that this brush is more effective than the old school manual elbow grease brush? My mouth does indeed feel more "fresh" using the sonicare. However that hardly constitutes for any sort of emperical data.

I feel with this toothbrush I can devistate the ladies.

😎

Another question: Is hydrogen peroxide mouthwash better than listerine? I've tried both, and although H202 tastes like cadaver toe, I know every bucal organism (most likely including my mucosal cells) are fried.

Excellent way to score some points with your future in-laws.

For now, yeah, but explaining to them why I can't give everyone a mouthful of veneers for free might prove a little more challenging 😉

Ultimate home oral health care routine: Brush with Sonicare, floss, and then flush with Waterpik using a water/Listerene mixture.

Sucks to be you...we get Sonicares for free next week when the Oral-B rep stops in on Tuesday. 😀 How's it working so far?

Bill, be real carefull discussing sonicares if you want a freebie around the Oral-B rep, they're the ones that distibuted Braun's. The folks from Phillips are the sonicare folks, which BTW, they're new elite is an amazing product.

In my office, we so want to get the sonicare in the hands of our patients that we seel them AT COST😱 And our patients that have them as a whole have impecable oral hygiene. Plus, when we're able to undersell Walmart on a product, then all of a sudden our endo and crown fees look alot more reasonable! 😀

I wonder if I could get the new sonicare at a discount somehow

I have not tried the Sonicare, but Cybersonic's toothbrush is great. I have been using it for 3 years now. It cleans much better than my manual one, and is more fun to use (considering brushing is not that fun to begin with), and the best part is the toothbrushes are free for life (well not quite, you pay a few bucks for s/h).

Urf? Either the SAC was wrong about the company that's visiting next week, or they screwed up the goodies they'll be distributing. I wonder which...but I suppose there's no room for complaint either way 😀

Dr. Jeff is right. Sonicare is uncomparable to anything else out there. It is only one to reach 4mm pockets. True. I read a research statement from the sonicare rep at our office. You manual brush users... If you really want to know how dirty your teeth are use a sonicare ONCE and you will be amazed! Squeaky clean:laugh: .

sonicare is great but I have two complaints: battery life stinks and I don't get enough lather when I brush. I've had the sonicare for two years now and I have to have it plugged in all the time for it to work, maybe I can squeeze out two brushings on one charge but generally I brush and have to charge it again. I love going back to a manual toothbrush every so often because I get a lot of lather in my mouth. It may sound ******ed but I get a cleaner feeling with more lather.

Power toothbrushes are far better than manual toothbrushing hands down. Although, I would suggest that the oscillating-rotating power brushes are more effective then the sonic technology which mimics manual toothbrush movements.

I've used both, and I prefer oscillating (Oral B 3d excel) then the sonic (Sonicare) method. I would suggest that most patients would prefer using sonic because it is easier to use and manipulate. The oral b one mimics the prophy cup which is more ideal at getting at the gingival margin to reduce plaque and gingivitis.

There have been specific studies stating that oscillating is proven to be better than sonic.

Last year an independent research group (not funded by any manufacturer) released a conglomerate evaluation of all the research and material that has been released over the last few years. They determined that counter oscillation (like oral-b uses) , and not sonic vibration, is the best method for removal of dental plaque.

In other words, everything taken into account, the oral-b and spinbrush are theoretically better.

up until about 3 months ago, i was hardcore oralb. but the free sonicare elite really changed that.

I can't help but enjoy the sonicare more than the oral b. and all the fluid dynamics stuff that talk about has to have some merit.

it's definitely easier to use. even after 3 months, i still get pumped everytime i pick the thing up.

Thats weird bec the battery in my sonicare last about two weeks

sorry, i mean now I have to charge it all the time. I used it have it go two weeks but that was during the first year.

sup guys,
here a tip for those silly people who have short battery life. you probably have a short battery life because of many reasons. one major reason is charging all the time, it's important from the being when you purchased the toothbrush or whatever, to have a good first charge, that means let it charge fully with no interuptions. then after that you shouldn't charge everything, just use the brush until it starts to get weak. then charge it, but once a month you should discharge it completely. this is like your lungs, you can train your lungs to run a marathon, or do some quick sprints but need to be recharged more frequently. the unfortunate thing is the battery life will eventually be crap over time. also i don't understand why sonicare won't use a lithium polymer battery which is better then the original lithium. i mean we came a long ways with the battery revolution you know using the nickel at first which developed memory, the lithium is not suppose to develop memory so you can charge it whenever, but i don't think that really works well. you know what they should develop, I think they should develop a electric tooth brush that is wireless, and no battery needed. that will you can use the brush until it breaks or maybe for ever....... I think that's the way to go, we don't have to worry about inconsistant battery life, and plus to our environment, for the environmentalist. man, sonicare and other toothbrush companies get lots of returns because of the poor battery life, but most people just throw they monsters away. 🙁 ,
