I logged onto my SOPHAS application today and noticed it was verified (YAY!). The first thing I did, of course, was check my GPA calculations. I noticed that they only used the grades from one of the two schools I attended. Has anybody else had this issue? I know they don't take course grades from trade/vocational/international schools, but that is not the case with this one. I took these classes as dual-enrollment in high school at a local (albeit small) state college. I figured they would still count since it is a four year college, rather than a trade/vocational school. Unfortunately, roughly a year and a half's worth of coursework (including my statistics and some biology courses) come from this school, so it did negatively impact my GPA. I have e-mailed them about this issue, but I was wondering if anybody else has encountered this and if it got resolved for you.

I'm not sure. It sounds like they only used the courses that fell in the typical frosh/soph and junior/senior split.

Yeah, I e-mailed them and they said that they cannot use dual-enrollment courses when calculating your GPA. It's odd since they don't state anything about that in the GPA calculation section of the instructions, but it is what it is I guess.

Yah, if it makes you feel any better my GPA dropped by .1, and they reclassified most of my coursework as "Other".

Mine dropped by .2 points. I heard this was normal.

Yeah, mine dropped by roughly .2 points. It's odd that they changed most of your coursework to "other" though. The majority of mine stayed the same.

Could you explain how these classes worked? I took coursework at my high school through adjunct professors from a state school. The credits look just like normal state school ones to me and carried on to the university I ended up going to. I'd realllllly like those in my SOPHAS GPA and I'm curious if they will be

They will not be counted in your SOPHAS GPA. Only classes taken after your graduation from high school count. That's very similar to the issue I ran into. I took a year and a half's worth of coursework at a state college while in high school. They all transferred into the institution I attended following high school, but SOPHAS did not use them to calculate my GPA. Had a pretty significant impact, unfortunately.

Just wanted to check in here and say that those credits did in fact count into my verified GPA. Not really sure how SOPHAS called that one but I'm pretty happy about it. Bummer about yours 🙁

Seriously? That's crazy. Did you mark them as dual-enrollment when you entered them on SOPHAS? I wish SOPHAS was more consistent in their policy.
