So I was on the lcme website and saw this list of new medical schools at the bottom.

http://www.lcme.org/directory.htm#pre-accredited-programs

It mentions a new school in NY, NY but I cannot find any info about this except for a BS/MD program they have had in the past that works with other medical schools in the area.....am I reading into this incorrectly or is there going to be a CUNY Medical School in NY, NY soon? When is it planning on opening?

Anyone with any links or stuff, I'd greatly appreciate it!

There are several people on this forum who have experience with Sophie Davis. Their reviews of it are mixed.

Yeah I think that's about the bs/md, I think OP is talking about this pre accredited MD school that looks like is popping up

Yeah I didn't mean the joint program, because that was with other medical schools.

Anyone?

What about this school?
College of Henricopolis School of Medicine

I'm a VA resident so this really interests me. Does anyone have any info about this or Sophie Davis? What is the first class they're accepting?

I've known several people from Sophie Davis BS/MD: 50% said they didn't like it. From talking to them, very strong preclinical knowledge was about 50/50. I think it is a program for students from backgrounds that might prevent them from completing a traditional pathway to medicine.

It is a program for the risk-averse student from lower socioeconomic backgrounds who think they want to do primary care. Options are extremely limited unless you decide to pay them back for all the subsidized education you got in exchange for the ability to match into a non-primary care specialty.

Confirmed with a connection currently at Sophie that the effort to get accredited is happening and proceeding well. Can't say more on the timeline other than it will be in a couple of years, and Sophie BS/MD will work in conjunction with the new med school.

Exciting news! About damn time NYC got another cheap medical school option besides Downstate (not that there's anything wrong with Downstate but options are good).

Totally agree, just wish it was going to be open and accepting apps for the upcoming cycle, oh well!

Seton Hall is opening one in NJ too, which is nice since all their current medical schools are public and favor in state pretty heavily.

Anybody has idea when they are going to open up?
EDIT: both Sophie Davis and the Seton Hall ones

I do for Sophie but like I mentioned before, I can't say anything more than that it'll be in a couple of years.
