I have an absolute horrible GPA-2.88. My mcat score sucks too..a 24. I will be retaking my mcat in April..hoping to get atleast a 30. Thus I am not going to even try to apply to US schools. But i was just wondering if i have a chance in the big 4 (of the Caribbean that is). Your advice is appreciated. Thanks!

It really depends on the rest of your application. Life experience, work history, etc. If you only went to school and ended up with these stats, then you might have a problem.

Yea you have a shot just not a really good one

Watch out for the poster who will tell you DO will accept you, you can shell out the $$ for the APPs but I know for a fact you have about 0 chance, the schools are taking much higher stats and its the very very few with under 3.0 that ever get accepted in 2008...............the stories I know a guy who knows a guy............stories

I just applied to SGU and AUC on 12/31. I have a 2.3 undergrad gpa in psychobiology and a 3.56 post-bacc gpa (4 repeated courses, 5 new courses), a 24 on the MCAT (twice) and 5 years 4 mo. clinical research experience in hematology/oncology. I am borderline with my gpa and mcat for AUC (way below for SGU) so I am really hoping that my working experience and LOR's help put me pver the edge. I will let you know what happens. Everyone says give it a shot, so i guess you just have to apply and see what happens, like i did.

I think they will accept you, why haven't applied to ROSS and SABA? I would do all four.

Thanks oldpro for the confidence. I did not apply to Ross and Saba because my first two choices are SGU and AUC and figure if I get rejeted from those two then I will apply to Ross and Saba definately and throw in AUA and St. Matthews. I know of 2 people from SGU and 2 people from AUC whom all are happy with their education (if you are wondering why those are my top choices). Also, SGU has the clinical contract with the HHS in NY. Did you ask why I didn't apply to those as well to broaden my chances of acceptance or so I can decide between the four schools where to go ?

I think you will be fine as you showed significant improvement in your post bacc. I have a lot of voluteering and working in genetics lab/psychiatric labs so I am hoping that will also help me. I am retaking my mcat in april, and i will then apply. Keep me posted on your progress! GOODLUCK!

Just to update you - I got a flat out rejection from AUC, but had an interview with SGU on 2/26 and notice that my app was sent to the commitee on 3/4. I sent out apps for Ross and SABA on 3/1 and will send AUA and SMU tomorrow. I really hope I get into SGU, even if they offer me acceptance to the Foundations of Medicine program I will take it!

hi guys, do any of you know of AUC has any clinical rotations available in Texas and is residency hard to get in Texas as well. Also when you do clinical rotations do you conduct them each in a different hospital, meaning do you have to travel avery clinical rotation or can all the rotations be conducted in just one single hospitals?

i dont think there are many auc rotations in texas (i'm from dallas), but they do accept the education and won't give you a hard time to be licensed (along with St. G and Ross students)...
