"Normal" would be a 24. Anyone above a 38 is not normal...there has to be some sory of exceptional dedication or test taking ability to pull that off. Or acting as a mind reader for the verbal section....the only way I see getting a 15 in that section is to be inside their heads.

You made it sound like an average joe can just do this on a good day...

hah. seriously, apparently a newspaper article must be written about you if got over a 40+? thats pretty funny... as if time magazine and the new york times would be banging down your door 🙂

faytlND, if i were you, i wouldnt drop any of those schools, assuming that you would actually attend all of them if accepted. you are probably applying to too many schools, but secondaries arent that expensive, and you can always decline interviews.

To all you haters out there, a score doesn't guarantee admission, be it really really good or really really bad. I doubt any of the top schools would give a green light just cause someone has a 42+ on the MCAT. All that shows is that you're a good book worm, doesn't say anything about if you're gonna make a good doctor or not. I happen to know way too many people who get awesome scores but you can't make yourself talk to them for the life of you, let alone let them be your doctor and care for you. So unless you're needlessly jealous, give the guy his answer and let him finish the thread. Or if you have nothing to say about the topic just move on to the next thread.

No, an average joe probably cant do it on a good day. But an above-average individual who works hard in his/her undergraduate classes to really understand all the principles that they are learning can score very high on these tests if they are dedicated in their studies (and thats not meaning 20hrs/week for a year; some people can study something once or twice and remember it).
