I am trying to schedule my aways currently interested in going to the SE. Does anyone have opinions on programs, particularly Duke/UNC/Vandy/Emory/Virginia?

Vandy and Emory are both excellent programs. You might also consider Campbell Clinic in Memphis.

I don't have any personal experience, but from what I have heard vandy does not introduce residents to surgical experience as rapidly as some other programs. They also don't care if you did a rotation there as far as receiving an interview, so keep that in mind when selecting away rotations.
