Nope! I have yet to hear anything. From the way my interviewer was talking, I dont think that they will making decisions any time soon. Or, they could have not liked me. Superhuntress, I notice that your location is Iowa. Do you go there for school or is that where you are from. THey told me that if you are not a resident of Illinois, it is very unlikely that you would get in, from the way my interviewer was talking, I dont think they except many nothern Illinois people. But, I hope you hear from them soon.

Hey,
I was just wondering if SIU conducted formal interviews and with invitations. I heard that you had to call them to set up a date, but they actually sent me a letter for an interview. Is that what you guys got too?

They invited me for an interview, but an interview is not mandatory and they can invite you for an interview.

I know that Southern has issued some acceptances and that they do seem to preferentially accept persons from Southern Illinois, specifically rural Illinois. They basically told me up front that I didn't have any chance. Funny what some schools tell you and what others do...

When I went down there (December 10) Dr. Thomas said a lot of similar things to me as a few of you I have talked to...it seems as if he doesnt really show interest in anyone who has what is considered "average" numbers. A couple of people I have talked to felt maybe it was due to the fact that he (unlike some other admission counselors) didnt want to get anyone's hopes up only to find out they didnt get in...I have heard this story before and I would much rather be discouraged after an interview and later find out good news rather than be expecting an acceptance and later receiving a denial letter.

I could be generalizing here but from the people I have talked to including a classmate, it seems as if he tells everyone the same thing. He basically said I wouldnt be one of those people selected in December which was initially discouraging.......but after talking to a professor who works in restorative it sounds as if SIU waits until March to make a bulk of their decisions.

Seeing that I have gone through this process last year, I remembered being waitlisted in March....so it rang a bell. From what I gather if you havent gotten an acceptance so far from them, dont expect anything until March. I know its a blanket statement, but the professor who told me mentioned that is just the way SIU does things. If you get an acceptance earlier, great, if not wait until March or later.

Lastly, I am not sure how SIU does interviews. I asked them directly (the admission office) and I was told they interview a select number of people and those not interviewed have just as good of a chance as those interviewed (ie you dont need to have an interview to get in and those who do get interviews arent favored over those who do not).
