the other day in the OR, I got asked to define the "space of leriche." I had no idea and went and did some investigating. nothing in the 7 surgical textbooks I looked at. nada in google. does anyone have any idea what this is? this is NOT related to Leriche's syndrome but named after the same french surgeon. thanks.

What were you doing?

gallbladder. this guy is a walking medical dictionary and will pimp on any topic often not even related to the organ system in which we are operating. e.g. "hutchinson's teeth" (tertiary syphilis) when we were doing hernia repairs.

Weird. If I remember correctly, Leriche came up with the sympathectomy. It might have something to do with that.

Leriche, a french surgeon, was the first to perform a Stellate Gangion block with lidocaine. A lot of funky "neural theory and philosophy" has come from his work and his followers....

The guy is a walking medical dictionary.....with typos. There is no space of Leriche. What he meant to ask you about is the plane of leriche. The plane of leriche is perivascular plane surrounding the pulmonary arteries.

Here's what I found with a quick google search.
