spaces in personal statement

i know the personal statement character max includes spaces -

does anyone know how to count them in Word? - when i check the readability stats it doesn't seem to take these into account.

In Word: Tools -> Word Count -> Characters (with spaces)

I took some of the spaces between periods out when I submtited to make room for a few extra letters. 🙂OOPS!
