For those of you who have been accepted for the 2008 cycle, have you noticed that people in general are treating you differently once they've found out that you've been accepted...for better or worse? This is just a curiosity poll more then anything. I didn't create the poll because I've been affected somehow with the change associated with finally being integrated into the dental lifestyle, I really am just curious...seriously. What say you?

The dentists I work for will now mention it to their patients, like somehow this suddenly makes me a better/more credible dental assistant.

seniors who have no idea what they're doing next year don't want to hear about it 🙄

sorry denticus,
I just couldn't resist voting against your polls!!

haahahaha seriously though, I live that you always post polls.

Keep it up.

Denticus, Denticus, Denticus... I can't wait to meet you later this year 😉

I had to introduce myself to the class and mentioned I was a pre-dent for Tufts University. The professor looked at me and said "I would rather be a garbage man than a dentist! No offense to garbage men!" - 😀

What a lame poll. Respect is what you have for yourself and your own self-esteem. If one is trying to get into D-School to garner respect from others, then it's a sad sight. Some people need to grow up.

Another meaningless poll wasting time from the OP.

Others may need to lighten up... 😎

Shunwei, seriously, why are you so bitter towards me. The attack-on-me option of the poll was supposed to be taken in jest. Apparently you didn't sense it? Like I said in the original post, this was merely a curiosity poll and nothing more. I in no way suggested that we are becoming dentists "so that" we gain respect; that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. In fact, I agree with you in that respect should be a personal thing over which an individual has total control. I created the poll just to see if and how people are viewing a change in there life in general since they've been accepted, thus the options suggesting that such changes would and could be due only to what they believe internally.

For what it's worth, I apologize for wasting so much of your time. Are you kidding me? I doubt you "wasted" so much time voting on my poll when you consider the amount of time you must have spent conjuring up a personal attack against me; that is a waste of time given that you don't even know who I am. Apparently, GPA and DAT scores aren't the best measure of one's intelligence, huh? I'm not impressed 🙄! I’ll be the first to inform you of just how exhausting it is to listen to you insist on being an insufferable know-it-all...month in and month out...uggh!

Allow me to give you some free advice regarding your apparent "problem" with me. In the future, the next time you see my name anywhere on a post you can just tell yourself, "I will resist, I will resist, I will resist" at which point you can just use that big brain of yours to manifest some willpower and skip right on over it so as to relieve yourself from the inevitable nausea you would feel for HAVING to hear my thoughts...psssht🙄.

denticus just became my favorite SNDner....first of all... "waste his time" SDN is all about wasting time.... most of the time people on this site are bored and trying to just have fun.... yea of course sometime i come on the site to get some important information.... dont worry denticus.... his GPA and DAT scores can never teach one how to talk to a patient/how to do anything non-textbook like.... most dentistry in an office is not str8 from a textbook... and his entire staff will probably hate him with that type of ego... damn... lighten up

I am not bitter (towards you???), and I don't think I have ever dished out a personal attack against you (if memory serves me right this is the first time I have ever replied to your post/thread), or anybody for that matter. In fact if anything I feel it's the other way around. It's just that over the past year, when I see your threads, I just think of TNT's motto, "It's all about drama." Can't think of anyone else on SDN during the past cycle with more performances on the soapbox about getting into D-school (and I pull for a lot of folks on here). The admissions process was very trying for all of us and SDN here is to provide support, but I can't think of anyone on here who started nearly as many threads about hair-pulling and hand-wringing. There are plenty of folks on here whom I admire for their resilience and composure.

To be fair, you are the one who included the option in your poll about "lame," and I merely elaborated a little bit on why I thought so; if you can't handle criticism, then don't ask for it. For the record, I do skip over most of your posts--except that a lot of them are polls with their express content in the title: hard to avoid at least seeing that. I do admit, though, that you got me with this one. I actually thought that you had something to offer, like discussing dental procedures. But now that I see it, I will really skip over your posts in the future ad nauseum as per your advice.

And Lollipop, I do enjoy funny and light-hearted posts here on SDN, and there are many posters whom I like in that regard, such as Armorshell. In fact, his posts have both good entertainment and informational value. For denticus, however, I fail to get the same impression; or maybe I am just desensitized by his threads. All I get from his threads is an impression of a desperate and needy individual who needs a LOT of hand-holding. Maybe he can hold his patients' hands in the future when he does a RCT on them.

My word, have you been...affected? 😆Lollipop is right, you need to lighten up a tad. But just a tad okay? Watching you squirm is actually quite entertaining.

:corny::corny::corny::corny:

this thread is funny. don't worry denticus, i don't think you're a drama queen. most of your polls at least make me smile. the biggest thing on SDN i can't stand is the unbelievable ego's of some of the members. i find it hard to believe that these people will be able to lead a very happy life, regardless of their circumstances.

back on track, i voted option 2~i actually HAVE made at least 3 new friends after finally reaching the blessed state of ACCEPTANCE! haha. they're predents in my classes who ask me questions all the time. i don't have any increase in family coming to visit tho. lol.

edit: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, by the way!

I kinda have to agree w/ shunwei on this one. I too thought it was a poll about something else. But your polls are in good fun, so carry on.

Thanks...and I will! 🙂 BTW, another thanks for not telling me to grow up and for not seriously using the words "lame" and "meaningless" to describe me or my actions. I'm glad to see that you've caught onto the jest that was intended to be felt in the first place...errr.

Dentistry will also fetch you more marriage proposals.😀
