Hi I was wondering if any of specialty residences pay the students while they complete the program? I know GPR pays (although not a specialty residence) but what about the others?

it all depends... you need to enter school sayin you need to be a pros'thadontist.... dagone... so many dentist you need to become an implantologist or you make 90 grand at the mill

Hi I was wondering if any of specialty residences pay the students while they complete the program? I know GPR pays (although not a specialty residence) but what about the others?

Depends on the particular program. I'm applying to pediatric residencies, many of the pedo programs pay you a stipend (the range for the ones I've applied to has been from 30k-60k) and have no tuition, but there are a handful that charge tuition and do not pay you - I chose not to apply to any of those, I'm broke enough from dental school.

Same goes with the other specialties - you can find some that charge tuition while some pay you a stipend. I don't know as much about the other specialties as I do pedo but it seems to me most ortho and prostho programs charge tuition with a golden few offering a stipend... a lot of OMFS ones charge you tuition for med school even if they pay you a stipend... anybody with more info on those specialties can correct me if I'm wrong.

This question actually has a complex answer like rewJW explained. Most specialties have some programs that pay stipends, and some programs where you pay tuition. This is true for pedo, endo, perio, ortho, and I think prostho. The programs which pay tuition are normally very competitive to get into, but aren't necessarily the best programs.

The only exception I can think of is OMFS, which all pay stipends (however, the 6yr M.D. programs require you to pay med school tuition for 1-3 years).
