I am thinking of doing a psych residency [. Is this a residency with job possibilities? I don't want to do 1 year of residency and not have a psych job to show for it. Any advice? opinions? stories?

I had a psych rotation at a VA clinic. really interesting, i actually loved it, the majority of them were crazy so it made the job really interesting and exciting, I didn't know if they were going to jump and attack me or their stories were just out of control. I really wanted to do that but didn't want to do a residency.

If you want a good job and to be proficient, it is going to cost you two years of residency. There are plenty of job opportunities.

Here is a list of Board Certified Psychiatric Pharmacists, I am fairly certain they are all employed, and highly skilled professionals:

Direct link would not work, click on Psychiatry to view once on the page.

I have to thank you as well as the original poster for the Q. I am very interested in combining pharm with psych. However, still unaware of the possibilities out there. This is a good start!!

Yes, absolutely! For more information, the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists website (www.cpnp.org) is worth a look.

There you'll even find a handy link to job opportunities: http://cpnp.org/career/listing.htm

Good luck! 🙂

Wow, this will probably be the most helpful post in the thread, very interesting. I was poking around the web trying to find something like this, and didn't come across it.
