Variety, money, shift work (predictable hours), you get to see anything and everything (unpredictable cases)
I could see why people would choose Emergency Med. There's probably more reasons...
Biodude said:I voted. It's my #1 at the moment. Especially "full-spectrum" FP...IM, Peds, OB, minor Surgery...I hope I'll be able to utilize 'em all after residency 👍
espbeliever said:ditto that totally! i want to go into fp, and id really like to do a bit of everything. i find the whole spectrum interesting. i believe there are several residency locations that will do this sort of thing as well... 👍
Claymore said:I think everyone voting in this poll should write down what they voted for, stick it in an envelope at home, and not open up that envelope again until you graduate from med school. It's amazing how many people completely change their minds once they go through the whole process and you really learn a lot about what you perceive certain specialties to be like, and what they actually are. I bet 4 years from now you'll look back on those letters and realize how far you've come.
Coming into school I had no idea what I wanted to go into. Now as I enter my 4th year I've decided on Neuro. Probably never would've guessed it as a premed.

I get many updates on Cardiovascular research/publication etc...
This person's name came across my vertual desk today (AKA Email).
This is rare thing, prob since most journals or updates don't put if the person is MD or DO, or PhD.
