hey, just wondering, what are the specialties that are demanded in AF? And is the AF in need for pediatric dentists?

there is a need for pediatric dentists. The AF will be holding a supplementary residency board in Jan. The need for pediatric dentists, perio, pros, and AEGD-2 was not met. All AF specialties are now open to dental students!!

So are you saying that dental students graduating in 2008 can apply for these specialties? How does that work? Do they apply through the AF or apply directly to civilian programs?

Yes! You probably won't start until '09. Pedo is usually done at a civilian institution. The others will probably be completed at Lackland AFB. If you are on HPSP scholarship and want to do one at a civilian institution, you will have to get a deferral from AFPC (Air Force Personnel Center).
