Googling dental specialist salaries gives a figure of around $250k-$290k for most specialties. That seems pretty low actually to me compared to what a regular DDD would expect to make.
With your experience how much would a typical Oral Surgeon or Periodontist make salaried? How about in their own private practice?

I would take any salary with a grain of salt if you are a business owner. Yes the specialty procedures do pay more then a GP; however, if your business is busier, has higher gross revenues, lower overhead whatever, then your salary can be anywhere from NEGATIVE -50k, to 50k, to 200k, to 300k to 500k to 1 mil. Doesn't matter what dentist you are. Business puts everyone on equal footing.

That being said, if you are an associate, W2 employee then yes those kind of numbers on google are "normal."

Those are some large deviations of 100,000 to 150,000. So as you can tell, business is what sets everyone on equal footing. Have a good location? Personable? Low Overhead? Work in the city? Work Rural? Take insurance? Out of network? Open 6 days a week? How many chairs you have?
