I'm taking the August 21st MCAT and won't be getting my scores back until September 22nd. I plan to apply this cycle and I'm worried that I will be too late. Does anyone have specific stats on how many students are accepted by then? How many seats or what percentage of seats are already given away by the end of September?

I would estimate that we give away more than a third by mid September.

September is late, why do you need numbers to tell you what you already know? Get off SDN and study for your MCAT so it doesn't become a deal-breaker!

@Hopefulpremed94 Keep in mind that even if your application is complete in September, schools likely won't be able to interview you until much later (December-March), but which point even more seats will be filled.
Is there any way you could take the MCAT sooner or wait an application cycle? There's no use applying if you're just going to get rejected because of your late app and end up applying again the next cycle anyway.

I plan to have my primary submitted in the first week of June and submit my secondaries well before my MCAT score comes in. That way, my score is all that admissions will be waiting for. How long do you think it would take to process the application and mark it as complete after they receive the score?

It's not worth it to take the test that late if you want to apply this cycle. Your best bet is to either move your test up to earlier in the summer, ideally sometime in June, or take a gap year. Even if there are still 2/3 of seats available in September, in med school admissions is a rolling process that is basically first come-first served. You will benefit from being complete as early as possible. It doesn't matter if they're only waiting for your scores - you aren't fully complete and in the queue until schools have all your scores, have received your secondaries, and your fees are paid. I would anticipate that 85% of people will be complete before you and because of that you are putting yourself at a major disadvantage.
