This photo above supposedly shows the splitting of Hb up close.

But since Ha: Hb is in a 2:1 ratio, shouldn't the peaks of the Ha protons be taller than that of the Hb?

EDIT: Nevermind!! Oh wow, I made the very mistake I tried to prevent. B/c this only a upclose profile of only the Hb splitting pattern, this picture does NOT show the relative peak size b/w Ha and Hb as it pertains to the whole molecule. And it's therefore correct.

The picture doesn't show the Ha peaks. All its showing you is that there are 3 Hb peaks because Hb is adjacent to two groups of identical hydrogens. identical neighbors + 1 = peaks.
