new guy around here. awesome board btw, never really checked it out before now. anyhow, i am a pmr resident looking at sports fellowships for 2014. i want to set up an elective but will only be able to complete one. the programs that i am most interested in are the cali programs (stanford in particular; I'm originally from the bay area) and mayo. geographical issues aside, how do you think these programs directly compare to each other? what is the general opinion on reputation of these programs? thanks!

I can answer as a Mayo resident. Our sports fellowship provides excellent MSK ultrasound exposure and Didactics. You cover HS hockey, football, wrestling, baseball, marathons and other events ( med city marathon ect.), semipro hockey teams, USA hockey tourney, and community college football. Dr. Smith is one of worlds experts in MSK US and one of the big names at Mayo and in PM&R. Very interested in research and research important in sports and MSK.

I have talked to Dr. Frederickson out at Stanford via email. He is nice guy and also huge name in PM&R sports.
Not sure about Davis program as less familiarity.

PM me if you want more advice on mayo sports
