Haven't seen this started yet but given that apps are being submitted in less than a week, figured I'd start! This is so exciting and nerve-wracking lmao, how many places are you all applying to? I started with 15ish and it has ballooned to 26 out of nerves

Thanks for making the thread! Applying to 50+ based on the experience of the graduates from my program (FM) who matched PCSM, but looking at the older threads here it might have been overkill. Hoping for some virtual interviews.

Thanks for creating the thread! Does anyone happen to know if the code of ethics form needs to be submitted at application or whether submitting it later after an interview is okay?

I sent an email to each program I’m applying to with both forms! Some of them have already replied just sayings thanks for sending them.

As a program director, I would really be curious to the feedback about interviews. What is typically liked vs. disliked? How can we improve the process for the applicants?

Personally prefer in person vs virtual. I feel like we as applicants can express ourselves better. I know that virtual interviews can be helpful for people who may be far and is a cheaper option, and it definitely has its role in the application. If possible I think both options should be offered to an applicant.

Hello,
Hopefully I am not being redundant here but made this spreadsheet from a spreadsheet I found online last year. I made it universally accessible so I hope as we get more interview invites, we can fill this in and help each other out a little =). Good luck everyone. Also, please feel free to add any programs I neglected to add or correct any mistakes noted.

Thank you for creating this!

Plug for those interested in increasing their MSK physical exam skills. I'm a PCSM who recently finished my fellowship and created this document to help with learners at all levels (including primary care attending's) with their overall MSK skill.

How's everyone doing with hearing about interviews? I know that they keep saying they'll send them in August and September but idk, just nervous about it. Gotten 1 so far, but it's definitely different from residency.

So far about 7% of interviews have been sent out based off the spreadsheet. From previous years it looks like September generally has half the interview invites with August having about a third of them. Then with the remaining trickle in October.

Also only got one so far. Like I know everyone saying most come at the end of the month and sept but still nerve wrecking lol

Anyone know if all the programs will either send an invite or a rejection by the end of the season, or will some just never reply with either?

I would think that it's like residency as there will be some that don't and just implied that you've been rejected, and then there will be others with the courtesy to send a rejection letter. I have received rejection letters from some already, which I respect and actually appreciate. But I also think of this like the residency match too: programs don't owe us a thing.

Just checking in! How are people feeling? Looks like about 60% of programs have sent invites according to the spreadsheet, thinking a decent amount more will be sent by the end of this month. Anyone already have an interview completed and want to talk about their experience?

Feeling okay, gotten a decent amount of interviews, a handful of rejections (much appreciated when they send them). Completed one interview so far. It felt a little less stressful than residency interviews to me. The program was very laid back and just wants to get to know you and end goals. Of course they will ask similar questions to when you interviewed for residency, but the stress level doesn't feel as high. I did feel a bit rusty as haven't interviewed since residency, but you get back into the groove quickly.

I'd say the most amount of stress is just waiting to hopefully hear something, lol. The timeline of sending stuff out is definitely way different than residency.

It's going ok! Also got a decent amount of interviews, but don't start mine until October. It's gonna be a long stretch from then until November. The in-person ones where you have to fly over there is sort of an inconvenience, but also sorta cool knowing you get to see some of these places. I know like 70% of that spread sheet shows that interview invites are sent, but hopefully some more trickle down this week and sometime in October too. Good luck to everyone!

Also going ok lol. Got a few interviews (5 so far to be exact and I applied to 48). I did send a few emails as a letter of interest, some said thanks for letting us know and others didn't respond. I got a few rejection e-mails also, which at this point I appreciate. Rather know an answer vs just waiting everyday by like 4pm EST just to wait another day lol. Btw does anyone know how many programs to rank to have a good chance of matching? Good luck yall!

Similarly for me, 4 interviews out of 30 apps with 2 outright rejections. Really hope more programs start to send out their first round/second round invites or just send rejections to help us all move on lol. Also wondering what a good number to rank is!

3 Invites, 1 rejection, and 1 "we are emailing to inform you we are reviewing your application" (count that how you will). I only applied to 16 though as location close to home and suitable for my family was most important to me.

By the way, anyone else coming from military status, and if you've had an interview so far, how was it?

I remember seeing a graph showing percent chance of matching based off the number of ranks, but I can’t seem to find it. Does anyone recall?

I asked ChatGPT (lol) it's claiming 10-12. Again would prefer if there was a link/source to confirm if anyone has it.

I believe you're referring to the graphs from 2018? I pulled the images from someone who posted this in last years thread. Again, this is from 2018 and things have changed since then, although I would think it's generally helpful to see! I tried to find recent data, but I don't think they have posted it since then for some reason unless someone else has been able to find more recent info?

So as of a week ago we were able to register with NRMP. I just put it into my ERAS. My assumption though is that they won’t likely be able to see it from there since they already printed out all the applications earlier this summer/fall unless they wanted to go back find it. As long as we register for NRMP we should be fine though right?

I think we are alright. On the application when we applied, we selected that we will be participating in the NRMP Match which shows up on their end as well. So, I would assume if they are ranking you, they will go back to your application on ERAS and find the ID as it uploads to your application once you enter the ID. This is how I think it works, hopefully I am right! 🙂

hey guys! congrats to all of you on all your interviews and good luck with the match process! Wasn't sure where to post this question, but I was wondering if any of you guys had heard anything about the Harbor/UCLA program? I've generally gotten good reviews from the fellows, but have also gotten mixed reviews from residents who have rotated there (some say it's disorganized and ortho doesn't teach much). Has anybody else heard anything in terms program organization, interactions with other specialties, and opportunities to learn US/tenex/etc? Just hoping it's not disorganized and not as malignant as some people make out the FM program to be!

On the program side we can see the AAMC ID or the NRMP ID. You can also look up applicants using the USMLE ID. If you haven't registered or updated the numbers on the NRMP website, I would suggest doing it ASAP. The Rank deadline is rapidly approaching.

Did anyone do an away rotation with a SM program? Do we think it makes a difference, or not as much as residency match?

And if you all dont mind sharing, how many interviews did you all get? I applied light (mostly within my own state) and I got 4 interviews for a total of 9 fellowship spots. Not sure how I feel about my chance of matching with that number

I overapplied to be safe, 30 programs and got 10 invites, took 9 of them. Haven’t done an away rotation so can’t help with that! I’m sure it can help or hurt depending on personality fit just like with residency

How's everyone feeling? I forgot how terrible this in-between period is.
I'm going to be applying this summer and I'm already nervous for all of the current applicants. Next fall and winter is going to be tough, haha. Good luck to all!!

I'm a flawed physician. 99% of all MD physicians and 96% of family medicine physicians are better than me. My presence is a liability and my arrogance kept me from seeing it until now.

DDM, you ok, bro?

Any other news on the match results?
