You will likely see my wife quit her $40000/yr job because after hitting her $16500 401K contribution in 2009 it doesn't make much sense for a college educated person to work full time for a 23500 pretax income when you are in the 35-39% tax bracket prior to 7.65% FICA and 5.5% state. That means she would face a 50% tax rate. Raise your hands if you would work 50/hr week, two weeks vacation for $11750 a year?

Anesthesiologists. When Obama wins, your nominal tax rate will go from 35% to 39.6%. You will then likely have to pay the 6.2% payroll tax on top of that, which will be added back in.

This means that, each year, you will be working until JUNE 16th for the Federal Government.

All money earned after that will be yours... except for the property tax you will have to pay, the sales taxes you will still pay on everything you purchase, your State tax, your local tax... etc. etc. etc....

So, how long are you really working for "government" each year? Have you figured that out yet?

And they want to "socialize" medicine to boot? I'd argue that you're already spending almost half of your time working for the government. But, don't worry. Obama's going to fix that too.

If wages stay the same [they won't], then after I become an AA, if my wife looks like she is going to make enough to put us at 250K, then we'll just work with our accountant to reinvest the money in our [mostly her's] acupuncture practice.

It should, just have the business pay your wife a smaller salary and use the rest of the money to reinvest in the business.

Payroll tax increase will not happen for 10 years. If you want to vote for McCain, fine..but get your facts straight.
