I notice the ABP newsletters do not break the boards pass rates down into Spring versus Fall test takers. Does anyone know if most people take the exams in the Fall (or Spring), or is it a pretty even split? I wonder how the pass rates compare.

Ditto. Just about everyone I knew taking the boards did so (at least the first time) in the spring, with a few re-takers in the fall.

I -thought- some of the newsletters did break it up, but..perhaps not. I haven't looked back over the old ones in a while, either.

Looked through the old newsletters. AP/CP used to only be offered in the Spring, except for repeaters in the Fall.

And, please tell me the boards software is better than the ABPath website!

I took the spring 2010 boards and the software "timed-out" once during my exam (while loading images). The problem was resolved quickly (following instructions given at the pre-exam brief) and did not loose any exam time. Considering that it is a microscoft windows based OS, I would say the software worked pretty well.

When I took AP, it was the first time they had the virtual microscopy section. My computer, and several others crashed during that session (which is why they allotted extra time per question). When it happened, I went to wiggle a wire, and was told that if I did that again, that my exam would be revoked!! So, my advice, is that if your computer freezes, YOU freeze as well.

I took the dermpath boards last week, and it was the first year that they had virtual microscopy as well. No crashes for me at least...it was faster and smoother than when I took the AP boards, so hopefully they've worked out some kinks.
