Hello,
My POI has kindly offered to buy me a laptop of my choice when I start in the fall. I’ve been wanting to buy a mac for a few years now- my roommate has one and I like the operating system. I’ve been using a PC for years now and I wouldn’t mind a change. My only concern is SPSS (or SAS?) on Macs- I know in a few older versions of SPSS there were some compatibility issues. Do any of you use Macs and SPSS? Any problems?
Thanks!

I have the SPSS 19 Grad pack on my Macbook and it works perfectly. So long as you are getting a new Mac and you download the correct software you shouldn't have any issues 👍

Hello,
My POI has kindly offered to buy me a laptop of my choice when I start in the fall. I've been wanting to buy a mac for a few years now- my roommate has one and I like the operating system. I've been using a PC for years now and I wouldn't mind a change. My only concern is SPSS (or SAS?) on Macs- I know in a few older versions of SPSS there were some compatibility issues. If you get SPSS for free from your POI, you should see if that free software extends to the Mac also, otherwise you will be spending a pretty penny.

I've heard there are lots of bugs on SPSS Mac, and you don't even know they are occurring, as they consist of the program not using all of the data correctly! Do a search on it and see what comes up in the first few search pages... I personally wouldn't take the risk, but I guess all of the complaints I've read could be wrong.

My solution as a Mac user (I love *nix, or Unix and Linux if you aren't computer wildcard savvy) was to use Bootcamp to install Windows 7 on a 200GB portion of my 500 GB hard drive. I installed SPSS on the Windows 7 partition and worries about any problems with SPSS were solved! 👍

it is much easier to dual boot Windows on a Mac than to install a correctly working OS X on a non-Mac system...

No thoughts on the question, but can I just say...dude, that's awesome that the POI is going to do that!
