is there any evidence that SSRIs, be it the exact same drug or just another SSRI, are less effective after their initial use? if so, would they "regain" their effectiveness if you took an extended break from the drug?

not seeking any medical advice, just a longtime lurker and curious.

I actually tried pubmed, didnt really find anything but I wasnt too sure exactly what to search for. I tried "SSRI effectiveness," ssri second time," and "ssri recontinuation" and didnt get anything useful

Try "antidepressive agents" and "tachyphylaxis"

With useful articles, then look for related citations.

 that did it. i figured my ******* was missing the "technical" medical term

thanks
