so do you guys think if they called me I got in...I missed the call and could not get a hold of them and will have to wait till monday now to find out for sure 🙁

I can't imagine a school calling to say "You aren't in". Really, who wants to be the one designated to make that phone call? Ugh. The thin envelope is usually used for that purpose.

They could be calling with a question about your application or some other matter, but given that this is the day that a bunch of other people got acceptance calls, the chance that your call is regarding some other matter is pretty small. Still, wait and see. And, hopefully go out for a nice dinner on Monday night.

Congratulations everyone! 🙂

at what time did they call you? if it helps, they called me at 12:41 central time, im in MN. like banana said, i doubt they would call you if it was a rejection or waitlist. i think you got in too 🙂 at the interview, they said that they like to let people know right away so they can plan. good luck to you!

They ended up returning my phone call, and I got in!!!!

Congrats to everyone who got accepted!!!!!

Has anyone who was accepted received the matriculation/acceptance packet yet? I want mine NOW! then its really official...

I was told something about getting them Tuesday, I don't know if that means we are suppose to get them today or if they were put in the mail today

I was told that they would be mailed out on Tuesday as well.

anyone else get their packets today, I got mine 🙂

yeah got mine too, thought it would have more information than just 3 pieces of paper...maybe that is coming later

hi guys!

congrats to all that got in, and good luck to those who are waiting! :luck: sounds like you have a great group gathered around this thread. could you share some of your impressions about the school with me? in particular, how did you like the city, how far is it from NYC, is the campus nice and faculty friendly? i've sort of focused on other schools until now, could someone get me up to speed with tips, useful info, etc? thanks in advance!

panbabylon,

St. John Fisher college is a smaller private school with a student population of around 3,000. The area its located in seemed to have a real small-town type atmosphere, which I enjoyed. The faculty was extremely nice and I enjoyed the conversations that I had with the professors that interviewed me. I had never been to NY prior to my interview, so I am not too sure what its distance is from NYC. Overall, I was impressed with the school and I could truly see myself living in the Rochester area...even though I grew up in Southern California and probably have no idea what I would be getting myself into.

It is 6 hours from NYC, 4 hours from Albany, about an hour from Niagara Falls.

I absolutely loved the school. they emphasize that they really focus on the student and want to make sure the learning enviornment is the best. they mentioned how they could expand their entering class to 100, or 150 or more, and would make so much more tuition money, but choose to only accept 65-75 students to make the class sizes small. The rochester area is very nice, small community feel yet still connected to larger cities.

The faculty were super nice, really friendly to us applicants, and to current students. I arrived early, and was able to see some of the faculty come in for the day and talk to students who were studying as they walked by.

The campus at first looked old, but then I saw the pharmacy building, which is brand new as of 2003 (04'?) which is really nice. the building has everything needed for the pharmacy student- own computer lab, study space, etc.

Lastly.....the cafeteria was AMAZING!!! it was a full service buffet...chefs to make your indivudual pasta order, crab meat, fish, 2 salad bars, pizza bar, mongolian grill/stir fry section... love the whole school!😀

wow, guys!

thank you all so much, you were all so helpful. from what you told me, i should get my stuff together and see if i can get an interview.

many, many thanks to all.

I thought they're not even accredited. I would go to another school if I have the choice

I thought they're not even accredited. I would go to another school if I have the choice

they have pre-accreditation status which means when you graduate you can still sit for the boards. They will become fully accredited when the first class graduates. Also the ACPE has stated that all schools that have achieved pre-accreditation have gone on to become fully accredited (I have the email from them if anyone wants to see it). They also have a dean that has successfully led 2 schools through the accreditation process, including Palm Beach Atlantic. So saying they are not accredited is a little off the mark.

Yeah, I checked the acpe website, acpe being the people that give full accreditation status, and they state that graduates of a school with candidate status have the same rights and priviledges as those students who graduate from a school that is fully accredited.

I then checked with the MN board of pharmacy, because im from minnesota, and they said that i could sit in on the boards, or become licensed as a pharmacist, if graduated from a school with candidate status.

When the acpe gives candidate status to a school, they fully believe that the school will mature according to guidelines and will become fully accredited once the first class graduates. (2010 i believe)

I have a question, when its in candidate status you cannot get financial aid from the government, but you have to get private loans? Excuse my ignorance, so correct me if I'm wrong! 😳

I am not sure but they told me that they have not had anyone who could not get financial aid to attend the school, and in my acceptance letter they told me to fill out FAFSA for financial aid so I assume that I can get financial aid or they would not have told me that I could, again I think that you can get financial aid but not 100% certain.

Can you share the interview questions that you were asked? because I have an interview at St John Fisher on 1/15. Thanks for helping.

Can anybody who had an interview at St. John Fisher share interview questions? Thanks

During our interview we had to sign an agreement saying that we would not disclose any interview questions asked because they had problems with this in the past.

Everyone was really nice though and made me feel very relaxed when I went in thinking I was going to completely freak out. Good luck to everyone! I turned my spot down (which I'm hoping isn't a mistake and I get in somewhere else!) but it seemed like a really great program.

is St. John fisher a 2+4 year program where u have to study for 2 years nad then take the PCAT and wait for acceptance?

what if i want to get into st. John Fisher for my freshman year, do i major in pre-pharm or a science major like biochem or chem? ilove biochem and chem?

yes its a 2+4 program where you have to take the pcat, fill out applications, interview and wait for an acceptance. Also I don't think they have any guarantee program to be accepted if you go there as an undergrad.

Did anybody who interviewed on Jan 9th hear anything yet ?

Who was the person that called with your acceptance?

I just received a call from Dr. Blanchard. I got in!!!!!!!!111111

I'm so happy right now 😍

BenH

I got a call today, but was unable to pick it up. I called back and heard no answer yet. AAAHHH!!!

if you got a phone call particularly from Dr. Blanchard then you are in

congrats on everyone's acceptances!

i am hoping to get an interview with sjfc. Just wondering, do they give you a choice of dates? i have an intense schedule this semester with labs 4 days a week and profs don't want any missed unless it is a medical emergency or funeral.

You will have several dates to select for interview. After you get the date down, bring a copy of the interview confirmation email to your professor and tell him/her that you'll have interview with SJFC School of pharmacy and won't be able to attend class that day.

When I had my interview on Jan 9th, my Biochem started the same day. I let my professor know ahead of time and he was nice enough not dropping me from that class.
