I know it seems like an odd comparison, but these two programs are both at crucial parts of my rank list... ie, right at the heels of my 'dream' programs.

In terms of location, I'd prefer Manhattan as opposed to Queens (like most people). If I went to LIJ, I'd probably stay in my Manhattan apt and drive to work (about half an hour).

In terms of the general feel of the programs, they seemed about even to me. I didn't meet many residents (about 3-4 at each) at either program, and the ones I did meet seemed friendly enough at both programs. Overall the other house staff and PD felt much friendlier at LIJ, and I'd pick it over SLR if it were in Manhattan.

It also doesn't help that my interests are vague... like, I'm interested in good psychotherapy training and public psychiatry. Pretty much all the NYC programs can provide that.

Does anyone have an opinion regarding other major differences between these programs that would help with my decision? I know that I can do second looks, but I appreciate any insight anyone here can give. Thanks!

LIJ will give you the best preparation, and tell Levy his old resident says hello
