anyone with some insight into this program?

i understand the lack of prestige associated with the hospital and the low pediatric census and tiny PICU...but im trying to figure out how meaningful these are, especially in the light of the still very high pass rate (close to 100%), the recent fellowship placements (harvard and hopkins last year), and the hospital atmosphere (laid back staff, amazing cheap housing, location, high pay, etc).....help?

I went to NY Med for med school and this hospital was part of our network. It was considered one of the more weaker programs mainly because of a small patient census. Mind you, the residents would do rotations elsewhere like wards at Metropolitan hospital, or do PICU at Westchester Medical Center. So I think they get all the exposure they need, maybe just not in the actual hospital per se 😉

Anybody else want to share their thoughts on the pros & cons of this program?

Thanks!

i, too, am interested in thoughts on this program ... i am interested in it because i want to do peds in the city and St Vincents is also the only hospital in manhattan that offers the DO traditional rotating internship year, and it would be great to be able to stay at the same place, and not have to switch my life around again after 1 year.
