Hello Colleagues and Mentors,

I'm sure many of you have heard about our PM&R program terminating at the end of this academic year. We currently have four PGY2s and three PGY3s all looking for positions to continue training this July (as 3's and 4's).

I know there is much more to it, but from what I've gathered so far, any accepting program will at the very least be gaining workforce, funding, and significant flexibility/waivers in terms of ACGME program requirements (#residents per attending, #patients/resident, etc). Also I was told that the "orphaned" residents' board scores do not apply to their accepting program's average, in case that is a concern for some programs. (I obviously do not mean to imply that any of us would bring the average down)

Can anyone add any information (regarding positive and negative aspects of accepting orphaned residents)?

Please respond to the thread or PM me if you are in a position to help any of us out...thanks.
