I'm about to start scheduling my classes for next semester and was looking into stacking my classes so that I would only have to go to school Monday and Wednesday each week. I'm a commuter and my commute is about 45-60 minutes.
I would be taking General Physics II, General Biology II, and Spanish II. There would be a lab and recitation for both the physics and biology class. Does anyone have any experience doing such a thing and if so would you recommend it?

I always stacked my classes throughout college. I was involved with off campus research that required many hours of work in a row to be successful. It was a busy schedule and I had to be really good at managing my homework, since all assignments were basically due on the same day each week, but it worked out really well for me. I took a full load of courses two mornings (8:30-12:20) and took a lab both afternoons. Overall I really liked this schedule because I wasted less time. During my first year, if I had an odd hour between two classes, I wouldn't get much done. By eliminating those odd blocks I increased productivity. I then learned to study in the morning on the days I had off, take the afternoons and do research, and then worked for pay during one full day and on the weekends.

The poster above me has listed plenty of reasons why stacking is a good way to schedule courses. I did the same and loved the benefits of stacking. It requires a bit more discipline (some ppl get tired after a few hours of class) but is worth it. I'm not sure how much you're stacking but I do definitely recommend having a small break for lunch in between. Definitely a need for me. I can't imagine what people that stack classes morning til night with no lunch breaks go through.

My favorite year schedule-wise was my sophomore year, when I only had classes Tuesday and Thursday (Spring semester I had a lab on Monday morning, though).

It was great because once I finished on Thursday, it was 5 whole days until I was back in the classroom.

And for reference I took Genetics, O-Chem I, English II, and Cal I for the fall semester, and Micro, O-Chem II, World Lit, and Cal II in the spring. Genetics, Micro and O-Chem all had labs, so it's definitely doable.
