So - I feel like I read and read and do questions and do questions - but my score on Qbank doesn't change (too much) and topics like Immuno - though I've technically studied them - I am still missing questions

I used hY immuno - but man - I'm still lost - any advice -

I want a 220 that would make me sooooo happy!!

Advice!!!

(I'm doing like 75q a day - studying 8-10 hours a day - test is in 5 weeks)

5 weeks is a lot of time....

You may want to try reading the immuno section of Langes Review of Medical Micro and Immuno (by Levinson)....its under 100 pages and really solidified my understanding of immuno...in my opinion HY was more of a collection of facts in some sections and some were way too detailed...ie it sucked...

Have you taken an NBME?...that'll show you where you stand way better then Qbank

btw...are you making sure that you fully analyze all of the answers and explainations on Qbank?

You know, it's just one area, you studied it, hopefully it will help you a little on the big day. Don't get obsessive over the question banks. Just keep working on all your areas for the next 4 weeks. Pulmonary consistently stumped me for some reason even though I spent longer on that system than any other and had previously considered it my strength. Never really saw an improvement though... until I got my Step 1 scores back 🙂.

Here's the way I thought of it when I didn't do well on a test or didn't improve in an area: The worse you do on a question bank the more you got out of the time you spent doing it. So that means by reading and then doing questions you are getting a lot more for your money since the question banks aren't just retesting you on stuff you already understand.

i find myself answering most of the kaplan questions from crap ive had stored away long in my brain from classes. a lot of the stuff you don't see in books and that's the point of kaplan - to just use as an additional resource to add those extra facts in. don't get too obsessed with the scores. do an NBME if you want to know where you're at.

So you have over a 200 predicted, without having touched any organ systems. That's not so bad, considering that you have 5 weeks to cover what makes up over 65%-70% of the exam (Patholgy, pathophysiology, physiology, and pharm). I'd say you should be happy. I got a 204 (440) on form 2 after having only read micro rediculously simple, and that was 6 weeks ago and not too heavy into studying. Hopefully I'm much farther along.

Are you working on not just trying to answer questions, but test skills like asking yourself which ones can't be right? I find my QBank scores will go up when I take the time to look at an option and say "Hmmm, I am pretty sure that option would be right if the disease was _____, and I know it's not that disease, so it can't be A/B/C/D/whatever." Sometimes I'm able to get a question right by guessing only because my odds are better after ruling out all but two or three.

You'll be fine, considering you have not reviewed your meat and potato subjects, as the other posters mentioned. You got time to shift into high gear. Do some physio, path and pharm before you take your next NBME.
