Can someone speak to one's odds of being accepted after being placed on a school's "standby list"? I realize this could vary from college to college, year to year, but, a vague idea.

Thanks.

with the new optomcas, im sure more people have applied than normal, and your chances may be a little slimmer..

but honestly.. you can't think about it like that.. Only worry about you. and not everyone else.

I would assume all schools rank their standbys from top to bottom; at least that's what Western said they do. So obviously the better your scores and extra-curriculars, the better your chances. Also, the more popular the school, the lower your chances. At least, that's all I can think of that makes sense. What can be maddening is that you could wait until very late in summer before finding out if you get in or not.

That would be ludicrous, especially as it might mean putting off other opportunities that may arise. (I'm not saying you're wrong, just that the situation would, indeed, be awful.)
