I'm aware of a situation where a patient is being sexually harassed by doctors who sickly enjoy putting him on and then taking him off hormones so that he goes back and forth between looking like a man and then looking like a masculine woman. Not only does this embarrass the patient, but it causes his coworkers, students, and patients to become uncomfortable, resulting in him losing his jobs, having his privacy invaded as people wonder about his genitals (leaving him mortified and grieving), and having others distance themselves from him. These doctors are horrible, even faking prescriptions and lying about what they truly are, like estrogen mislabeled as testosterone, then acting like it's the patient's fault and pretending that the patient enjoys what they are doing, despite it ruining the patient's life, making the patient ineligible for medical school, and traumatizing the patient by turning all people away from him so he has to be alone every hour of every day, all weekends, all holidays... The patient is also stuck in his body that the doctors have destroyed; physical deformities are constant reminders of past events. Others tease him about his visible injuries, a sign of victory to the abusers. The patient feels he has no hope, and is just trying to survive but the emotional pain is extreme.
As a future doctor myself, I put myself in the place of other doctors this patient might go to to find help, away from the group which is tormenting him. It seems like the harassers are terrible bullies that will attack, with uncontrollable laughter, any other doctor who tries to help this patient. How do you stand up to peer pressure when groups want to pick on someone you want to support? What advice would you give this patient about how to escape a group of harassing doctors?
