If you applied to Stanford, what scholarly concentration did you mention that you were interested in, and if possible, what in your background led you to choose that concentration? Also, if you could list along with your scholarly concentration the career goal you picked - I'm just getting an idea of what kind of things SDNers are interested in? If you want to list whether you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected, that is cool, but I don't want to invade anyone's privacy with that question also.

If you could list it in a reply as follows, it will make it easier to see the associations. I will start.

health services and policy research - public health career goal
Background: I did AIDS education in africa for a summer.

Thanks!

going to apply there this summer...

Bioengineering seems cool, I have some BMEish research experiences and I think that this scholarly concentration has alot of potential for opening up future opportunities. Any thoughts from anyone who knows more about this track????

When I applied I said public health 🙂

Hi Nexus, whats your big interest in Stanford? Are you going for sure?

BTW, for the scholarly concentrations, its fairly new (started in 2003) and they are still working on their curriculum for each one at Stanford. During the admit weekend there were well over 70ppl...and I would say that almost no one knew which scholarly concentration they would do. It seems like ppl just wrote an essay for the sake of filling in the secondary, but most ppl were still very open minded about them.

It's the one school that no one at my school knows anything about - like some Shanghri'La or something. Just trying to learn about the school as much as possible, as well as about the types of students who go and what the school is all about. Since it is such a small class size, it is hard to know anyone from there, so I figured I may as well learn on this forum.
