Hi,

What do people think of these two categorical medicine programs. Overall, considering reputation, fellowship matching, prestige, opportunities etc, which is a better program for someone considering doing a fellowship post-residency?

I would say that they are two very similar programs as far as reputation & quality of training and education are concerned. UW may have the slight edge in reputation, but I am sure that's debatable.

I'm interviewing at both places, and I think Stanford and UW is the same by the stipulations you listed -- both places are superb, can go to any fellowship in the country from either place. If you like them the exact same on interview day, then I would say just pick whether you are more San Francisco or Seattle.

Hi,

I cant say too much for UWash except that the 2 people I know who were residents there thought it was a great educational experience.

As for Stanford, I got the impression that it is a very academically oriented program with strong teaching and residents, quite a few who would like to be researchers. There is minimal scut at this institution and while private, there are still many teaching patients.

I would also like to hear how people perceive Stanford, UCSF, and UW in comparison to programs on the east coast.
