ROFL

I think it would be better to paper clip because they pass them around to the other members of the committee. It's easier to seperate the pages if they are not stapled together.

I'm a fan of the paper clip.

I just used it in my undergrad app to NW. 😉

i used paper clips. unfortunately, i only have a box of colored paper clips, so the hot pink clips may have been a distraction from my file, but it also could have made me stand out.

Colored clips is a good idea.. if the person has a sense of humor 😉

Thank god they weren't hunter green.

neither. simpler is better. as long as the pages are labeled well, they don't need either.

See, I was going to say that, but my dead horse was in the shop. 😀

If you use plain paper clips, you are indicating your complete inability to think creatively as a future physician, and that you are merely DO or foreign med school material.

🙄 🙄 🙄 Please. I can't believe this thread even exists!

hahaha. whoever started this post will be just fine in med school. anal, precise, exact to ridiculous measures-3 traits you need to do well.

and btw, if you do not place the staple exactly 45 degrees and 1 cm from each side of the piece of paper, forget it. You have no chance in hell.

ah well then the OP will make a fine and friendless physician. 😛 😛 😛

LOL... this thread is insane!!! This is EXACTLY why pre-meds get such a bad rap...

Seriously, if you're not certain whether to staple or paper-clip, and this is something that actually BOTHERS you enough to start a thread, then for god sakes, why not send a copy of each? Or better yet, why not make a paper clip out of a staple? Or you could always paperclip, and then include a miniature stapler... or staple, and include a staple-remover and a paper clip.

Oh, and if you apply to an Ivy, use gold paper clips... you want them to think you can afford it. If applying to state schools, use dirty old paper clips so that they will give you $$

Now go watch some TV!!!

This summer, you're going to want to use an office accessory that says "you" in a vibrant yet carefree statement. Now, what the staples do is bring out that vintage look, that espirit d'premed. You could even go for that pre-Ivy look and utilize an 80's era Swingline. Ok, another option is the paperclip, definitely not something you want to skimp on. Try going for a big ostentatious butterfly clip, or check your local thrift stores for the clunky round clips.

People, please. There are two possible correct ways to bind the pages of your application.

1. Manually sew the pages together using thread made of the hair of a goat found only on the upper peaks of the Himmalayas. This will also help demonstrate several of your ECs.

2. Flay your own skin and tan it into leather to make an attractive (and functional!) binder. This shows your willingness to sacrifice youself for your calling.

😀

Hey, I defend the OP because last night I saw a question about this and today at work I was STILL thinking about it.

Paperclips for me - I don't know why, but even when we're sending out contracts or really important documents for client sigatures alot of places will just paperclip. I can't remember when I have ever seen a really important document that has been stapled, either from us or from an outside company. It seems to be standard practice I guess. So there all you big pooh-pooh-ers 😀

OMG. I knew this eternally haunting question would be resurrected this year.

Btw, plain paper clips for me. Use the ones that are shiny--otherwise, the rusty kind will leave marks on your application. Definite no-no.

Why not have your apllication professionally bound at Kinko's, the copy center?
