Is it possible to start making IBR payments while in medical school? I will be starting as an MS1 this fall under the HSCP program in the Navy so I would think that if I could begin IBR then time spent making payments would also count toward PSLF since I will be active duty military. Using the IBR calculator, I have determined that the total monthly payments would be around $60 per month based on my income for next year. I'm not sure if anyone has thought of this or looked into this. Thank you.

I already tried that loophole. You cannot enter into repayment plans while you are still a student, sorry. The good news is that as a resident, your salary is so low that during the first year your IBR payments are often zero dollars.

I have thought of this, I have looked into this, and the definitive answer is no, as a student you may not enter IBR.
