Has anyone started a club at their school? Any thoughts on what this takes, how successful you were, if you felt like it was worth it?

I started up the Imaging club at my school. It was several years ago now so I don't remember all the details, but I don't think it was toooooo much work. I think we had to get some set number of signatures from students saying they'd be interested in joining, had to present it to the Student Government Association, find a faculty advisor willing to sign on, and write up by-laws. I think it was worth it; it was a good resume/CV booster, I got to network with the professor in my field of interest a bit more than I otherwise would have, and the club is still going strong today and I do talks for them over Zoom every semester 🙂

Nice! Thanks for answering. I'm interested in starting an anesthesia/analgesia club. I know our handbook says we'll need a faculty advisor, and I haven't brought it up yet to the professor who teaches anesthesia, but hopefully they'll be interested. I don't mind putting in work, but I'd also really like to have the opportunity to expand my own education and network with some people in the field!

For sure! I had another classmate co-found with me which definitely helped to share the work between two of us and bounce ideas off each other also
