Pre-SOMA is the undergraduate division of the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA), which is the student affiliate organization of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). SOMA is the largest osteopathic student group in existence, with chapters at all 28 Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine in the US. SOMA is the ideal organization for pre-med students to get involved with. Pre-SOMA offers aspiring D.O.s an open line of communication with current osteopathic physicians and students; consistent mentoring and assistance from the National Pre-SOMA director; opportunities to participate in national conventions and events such as DO Day on Capitol Hill; recommendations to each college of osteopathic medicine on behalf of Pre-SOMA members, and many discounts and benefits which are outlined on the SOMA website along with other helpful information: www.studentdo.com. Pre-SOMA is growing at rapid rates, consistent with the overall growth of osteopathic medicine in this country. New Pre-SOMA chapters are being chartered all over the US even as you read this message!
