So a few of my friends and I are about to start a multicultural fraternity, which would make it the first in my state. I was wondering if this actually looks good on our resumes. I'm now a junior and to be a founding father for a frat.. it's A LOT of work but do you guys think it'll be worth it? Do the admission committee like to see these kind of things that stand out? I don't really have that much else extra curricular wise.

Do things you want to do, not things you think adcom members want you to do.

I agree with this, only do it if you truly want to because it IS a lot of work. However, I actually did start an organization on my campus and talked a lot about it at one of my interviews. My interviewers were really impressed by it and kept asking me questions about it. I ended up getting accepted to that school, but I have no idea how much starting an org actually had to do with it. It certainly can't hurt though!

Do it. I was the re-founding president of a fraternity chapter on my campus, and it was one of the best choices I made in undergrad. It was a TON of work starting everything up, but it was (and still is) a very rewarding experience. It gives you a unique leadership position, and it's gives you a lot of things to sell in an interview like leadership, responsibility, time management, etc. At the very least you'll come out with some great memories and experiences

Do it. It will benefit you later on. You never know. 😀
