I've been rdg some threads and it seems as if people have already started or are in the process of finishing up their applications. Is it necessary to start this early? I'm doing an application thru pharmcas but for one school, the other schools I'm applying to have their own applcations and they dont give those out till October (Tx schools). I was just wondering if it was necessary to start so early b/c I'm getting kind of worried now.

I'm only applying to CA schools and their applications are due in November. I started early because I work and I don't really have time to write my essays, especially since I'm not good of a writer, and there's so many essays to write. Also, I wanted to give plenty of time for my recommenders to write me one.

hi there PharmEM, it is not necessary to start early.......but for me, i start early so that i can complete and send my application on time for the Early Decision program.....other than that, it's also because some schools do Rolling Admissions (in the Regular Admission, meaning they review applications once they receive it and decide whether to give you an interview early when there are seats available so you won't have to compete with so many other people), especially those schools in California......BUT, if some schools that do not have rolling admissions, then you can just apply and submit anytime before the deadlines. Good luck in your application process! 🙂

You shouldn't worry...I can assure you that those of us here who are beside ourselves to get our apps in early are not in the majority. Also remember that not every school uses PharmCAS, but I'm sure you know that already.

I decided to start early for a few reasons:
-I'm very busy during the regular semester and I'm out of summer school now (school doesn't start for two weeks) and I had nothing better to do
-I decided last year that I was going to apply, so had already taken most of the prereqs and the PCAT (94% boo-yah!) so I had no reservations about just going ahead and doing it
-I'm unbelievably impatient; all of my friends started pharmacy school this week and I wanted to find out sooner about being offered an interview.
-Give the folks writing LORs plenty of time (although they'll probably bust them out soon anyhow)
-It's a great feeling to be done with all of it!!
